ABOUT WVU Energy Express
WVU Energy Express was a 30-minute educational television series produced in partnership with West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB-TV). Designed to support WVU Extension’s six-week summer reading program, the series complements in-person efforts by offering interactive, literacy-focused episodes that feature special guests, educational content, and kid-friendly storytelling.
Key Outcomes & Measurables
• 55 total episodes produced or co-produced across multiple summer seasons
• 24 total hours of educational broadcast content created for West Virginia Public Broadcasting
• 337+ hours of YouTube watch time for WVU Energy Express episodes
• 4,700+ YouTube views, excluding televised reach
• 26.1-minute average runtime per episode, supporting long-form youth engagement
• Partnered with the WVU Extension Family Nutrition Program, which contributed 1 fully produced episode per-week-per-season, supporting program scalability and statewide reach
My Role
As lead producer, I was responsible for end-to-end production and delivery of the broadcast-ready episodes, managing both the creative and technical workflows:
• Oversaw full production and delivery of mastered episodes to WVPB
• Directed and produced segments across each season
• Supervised graduate assistants contributing to individual segments
Handled all aspects of production, including:
• Camera operation, lighting, audio, staging and (occasionally) drone footage
• Interviewing, segment scripting and location scouting
• Post-production editing, sound design, file management, and final mastering
• Wrote and coordinated host scripts to maintain cohesion across episodic segments
